What is the difference in Peru between a digital signature and an electronic signature?

The digital signature is the type of signature that enjoys the greatest legal guarantees and is therefore the most appropriate for signing any contract, document, or transaction that requires such guarantees. It can only be made with digital certificates issued by a Certification Service Provider duly accredited by INDECOPI. For this reason, the digital signature is considered by law to be equivalent to a handwritten signature. It has full legal value and guarantees the enforceability of a document against third parties. The electronic signature is carried out by a procedure identical to that of the digital signature, but the digital certificate is not issued within the framework of Peru’s Official Electronic Signature Infrastructure (IOFE).
