A qualified electronic signature certificate is a digital certificate that contains cryptographic keys which are the necessary elements to electronically sign. These certificates aim to unequivocally identify their holder and are issued by Trust Service Providers accredited and supervised by competent authorities. In Spain, this is the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation. The eIDAS accreditation in European Union countries for the issuance of qualified certificates is based on compliance with the ETSI EN 319 401, ETSI EN 319 411-1, and ETSI EN 319 411-2 standards.
